Bikejoring is a sport that involves a single dog or a team of harnessed dogs, fastened to a bike using a towline, having to ride ahead pulling the rider on a bike. Bikejoring is an evolved variant of skijoring and is sometimes used to train sled dogs in the off-season. The objective in bikejoring is to legally complete the course in the shortest duration of time. In Bikejoring, although there is no restriction on dog breeds, American pit bulls, Siberian huskies, and Alaskan huskies are mostly preferred. The competition of bikejoring involves racing around a track for a fixed number of laps. The bikejoring races are conducted in two formats, time trial and direct racing depending on the condition of the tracks. In time trial format, the dogs and the rider race around the track individually while they are timed simultaneously. In a direct race, two or four teams of dogs and riders race around the track depending on the size of the track. The team which manages to finish the course in the shortest duration wins.
