Profoto B2 Battery Overhaul

Complete re cell of a dead Profoto B2 battery pack. The existing 1500mAh 18650 cells were replaced with 2500mAh cell's to hopefully get a 66% increase in performance. This battery was just one of three that I overhauled, one of the batteries would not charge after the cells were replaced. the fault was traced to one of the thermal protection cut outs between the cell's and the PCB which I had to replace. once this was done, the battery charged as expected. It’s just worth noting that an additional fault with the battery may prevent it from functioning. Disclaimer Lithium cell's and batteries can be extremely dangerous if not handled correctly. Always dispose of lithium cell's responsibly & wrap electrical tape around the + end of the cell to prevent short circuit. I disposed of the cell's in the plastic cases that the new cells came in and taped them closed to prevent the cell's from coming loose. I also don’t recommend mixing old, reconditioned and new cells. If you are going to the effort of overhauling a battery like this you might as well do it properly and use only new genuine Samsung 18650 cells.
