I specialize in orthpaedic surgery - specifically orthopaedic trauma - which is the practice of fixing fractures and broken bones throughout the body. The choice for me to come to Wake Forest Baptist Health was an easy one - the combination of outstanding commitment to clinical care and patient care, the cutting-edge research, and the emphasis on educating the next generation of physicians and surgeons made it an easy decision for me. I chose to be an orthopaedic trauma surgeon because it allowed me to help people when they were in their time of most need - fixing fractures or helping patients regain the quality of life and function was very appealing to me. So having been a patient myself - and been involved in the medical system as a patient, I've learned the importance of involving the patient with their medical decision-making. I think today's patient deserves and wants to be an active participant in their medical care.
