Together with our French partner Athénor – Centre National de Création Musicale, we are premiering two new works that investigate two spaces rich in history: Le Life, a former WWII submarine base in Saint-Nazaire, and teilelager at FAHRBEREITSCHAFT, a former DDR leader’s hub for transportation in Berlin- Lichtenberg. Arturo Gervasoni’s new work for MUSIC FOR large spaces creates a »parcours romanesque« with biographical references. The composer counters standardised life in cities with a radically personal view – »idiosyncrasie«. The cities Saint- Nazaire and Berlin will be the sources of his work, staging both cinematic and acoustic material while he negotiates several dualities. In her new concert installation, composer AnA Maria Rodriguez revisits the relationship of art and nature by drawing on a communication system between plants and animals. Inspired by Lilach Hadany’s research that investigates whether plants can sense sound, Rodriguez developed an interactive model that focuses on vibrations, intensities and stimulations. Her audiovisual network of several resonating gongs in connection with the instrumentalists and a light installation invites us to actively explore the vast space of the teilelager. The concert series LA STRADA explores memories, impressions and formative experiences related to the street. Ensemble KNM Berlin renders these sounding impressions of the road into music and adds POP UP concerts as brief artistic commentaries and interventions. Impuls neue Musik. 18/12/2022
