A rarely-seen Russian military helicopter appears to be playing a key role in electronic warfare (EW) against Ukrainian air defence systems. The Mi-8MTPR-1 EW helicopter is a modification of the standard Mi-8MTV-5-1 combat transport helicopter. The PR stands for Pomekhovyi, Rychag, or jamming helicopter with the Rychag system, in the aircraft’s internal designation Mi-8MTV-5PR.
