Dead or Alive 2 might just be the game with the most revisions on any console, as each release featured more content that the previous version. The original Japanese release was pretty much a bare bones version and this Japanese Hardcore release included more costumes than the North American version. Despite the Xbox Ultimate Dead or Alive 2 coming after this, not all the costumes and stages seen in the Hardcore version appear in the Xbox release. While the PS2 release doesn't look as good as the Dreamcast version either and it's not helped by the lack of a progressive scan mode, unlike the Dreamcast's VGA support. On the plus side the PS2 version includes a lot more content over even the limited edition Dreamcast release. While the English voice acting is terrible, it's funny to listen and this version includes both the English and Japanese voice acting. Dead or Alive 2 was a huge jump over its predecessor in term of graphics and game design. Setting the blueprint for later instalments whiles, not every change was for the better, this game was certainly bigger and more outlandish than the first. While not the most technical series, fans of arcade fighting games like Virtua Fighter will enjoy it.
