What’s happening in this Ride Along movie clip? Ben (Kevin Hart from Think Like a Man and Get Hard) and Angela (Tika Sumpter from Southside with You) are starting to make out when James (Ice Cube from Boyz n the Hood) catches them, hiding in the dark. Ben freaks out and passes out. When he wakes up, Angela and James are arguing about whether she should be with him or not. James leaves but Ben rushes to talk to him. He decides to ask James for his blessings to marry his sister Angela. James then says Ben has to be worthy of Angela, making him go on a "ride along" to prove it. If the ride-along is successful, James will give Ben a recommendation to attend the academy, along with his blessing. Ben (Kevin Hart from Think Like a Man and Get Hard), a high school security guard, tries unsuccessfully to prove he's more than just a geeky talker to James (Ice Cube from Boyz n the Hood), his girlfriend's protective older brother and a tough-guy cop. When Ben is finally accepted into the APD (Atlanta Police Department) Academy, he asks for James' blessing to marry Angela (Tika Sumpter from Southside with You), thinking he has finally earned his respect. Skeptical, James puts him to the test to teach him the job and see if he is worthy of marrying his sister. For 24 hours he must patrol the streets of Atlanta with him. But what should be an ordinary patrol turns into a real pursuit of crime. James will find that Ben's repartee is as dangerous and fast as his own bullets.
