Quick trip following up a skunk in Neah Bay. Two weeks prior I hit Neah Bay for halibut but the weather turned out to be too extreme to fish the deeper water. I ONLY brought halibut and big lingcod gear with me but tried for rockfish unsuccessfully. This video, I redeem myself with a decent haul of 3 rockfish and a cabezon. The wind was VERY strong at the beginning of the video, so I was stuck over a rock just off shore near the beach I launched from. I was swimming distance to shore throughout most of this video. In retrospect, I think a couple of the "blue rockfish" were actually black rockfish. I only fish for rockfish 3 or 4 times a year, what can I say? I'm used to black rockfish being blacker. As always, use extreme caution when fishing the strait. Wind, waves, boats, and marine mammals are all elements that can serious issues while kayak fishing.
