Philippine bolo, traditional blacksmith, Dauin Negros Oriental, handmade knife, Filipino craftsmanship, local forge, agricultural tools, handmade bolo, guava wood handle, handcrafted machete Join us on a journey to the heart of traditional Filipino blacksmithing in the small village of Dauin, Negros Oriental. We visit Temestoeles L. Naga, known as "Temmo" to his friends, in Barangay Tugawe. It’s just before 10 AM, and his colleague is already sharpening previously crafted machetes. Today, from the fire of his humble forge, an old bolo will be reborn into a brand-new cutting tool. Temmo’s son, William, has known this anvil and workshop for as long as he can remember – and he’s now in his mid-thirties. A week later, we return to witness the next steps: crafting the handle and sheath from guava wood, completing the transformation of this essential Filipino blade. In the end, we see a happy new bolo owner and an equally satisfied craftsman, proud of his work. For inquiries about bolo restoration or custom-made agricultural tools, you can contact Temestoeles L. Naga at CP 0936 633 8557. #philippinemagazine #PhilippineBolo #TraditionalBlacksmith #DauinNegrosOriental #HandmadeKnife #FilipinoCraftsmanship #LocalForge #AgriculturalTools #GuavaWood #HandcraftedBolo #MacheteMaking
