Just a quick, cobbled together comparison, with as otherwise-equal conditions as I could manage, of my recording room before and after I added 12 panels of acoustic treatment. All panels were primarily Rockwool, 3" thick. There are 5 panels is wooden frames on the previously-bare wall to my right, and one on the wall to my left. Also, there are 6 pieces of Rockwool that were cut down to size and covered in fabric on the bookshelves behind the books, on the three shelves (2-wide) most visible in the video. Sound equipment was a combination of my new Gefell M300 (mono), plus the stereo microphones on my iPhone (set to about 2/3 - 1/3 respectively in the mix). There is no processing of the sound, no EQ, no compression, except that the Gefell microphone feed was normalized (uniform volume boost to maximum) when I bounced the track. I think the difference is pretty noticeable. I'm going to get much better results from the treated room! Songs: iPhone ringtone, intro to "A Bowl of Bula" by Mark O'Connor.
