Naked cakes are a great design for any new bakers out there, or anyone who isn't the biggest fan of frosting! Naked cakes don't have have frosting out the outside of the cake, which makes them much less indulgent than a normal cake, and much easier to make! You don't have to worry about getting the frosting perfectly smooth, or stress over decorating the sides of the cake. With this in mind, it's important that you fill the cake with an amazing filling, since it's the only frosting in the cake. I filled this cake with my whipped chocolate buttercream, and my chocolate ganache "frosting." The full recipe for this cake can be found here: https://chelsweets.com/2019/03/01/nak... One important thing to remember when making naked cakes is to add simple syrup (a mixture of equal parts water and sugar, heated to dissolve the sugar) to the cake layers! Since there isn't any frosting on the outside of the cake to keep the layers moist, you need to add simple syrup to keep them from drying out.
