Assam News | Ground Report: Assam’s ‘Special Revision’ Of Voter Rolls Begins

Now to Assam where Election Commission's special revision of electoral rolls has begun and would take place over the next two-and-a-half months, the process assume huge significance since Assam goes to polls in March-April next year and is being held parallel to the process of SIR in several states including West Bengal. SIR was not held is Assam , since National Register of Citizens (NRC) process in Asam is yet to be completed . The SR does not include any enumeration form to be filled out by voters like SIR. The key component of the special revision process in Assam will be house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to conduct physical verification of the existing voter lists.
