When I first started wheel throwing dinner plates I was not sure how much clay to use. First I tried with 1600 grams. That was too much. Then I tried variations with 1500 and 1400 but ended up with 1300 grams. But after using the finished plates for some time I have found out that it would be nice if I could make them a little lighter. So, in this video I will show you have I make the same plate design but a little lighter. I will be making some plates with 1000 grams of clay and some with 1150 grams. And, as you will see in the video it was not without challenges! In fact, I failed with one of the plates. I will show you why and how I fixed the problem with the next plates.
