Nikon P900 vs P1000: The BIGGEST difference between these cameras is NOT the Zoom.

Potentially unpopular opinion incoming. The difference in Zoom is not the biggest difference between the Nikon #P900 and #P1000. In fact I would not put it in my top three at this point so here after a couple of years of using both cameras is where i think the P1000 accelerates over the P900 (and probably the P950?) While the Coolpix series of cameras with their reasonably tiny sensors are not really designed for capturing great images in lowlight the P1000 certainly performs better in this area. In this video you will see a sunset (Dusk) shot taken on both cameras within a couple of minutes of each other. At no #zoom there isn't a lot to write home about but at max focal zoom the P1000 does a much better job of picking up detail in the image. If you plan on buying one of these cameras for conditions where light might be an issue I hope this helps you make a decision around which might be better.
