LAHORE: The main procession of Ashura Muharram would be taken out from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate The procession would culminate at Karbala Gamay Shah on evening after passing through Chowk Nawab Shah, Masjid Wazir Khan, Rang Mehal, Paniwala Talab, Taranum Chowk, Bazaar Hakeemaan and Bhati Gate. The Zuljinnah processions of Muharram 7, 8 and 9 would be taken out from Islampura, Urdu Bazaar, Shadman, Old Anarkali, Model Town, Thokar Niaz Baig, Sadar Bazaar,Dharampura,Abbot Road, Ghaziabad, Imamia Colony and other areas and conclude after passing through their traditional routes. Khateebs and Zakirs would address majalis to be held before taking out the processions. They would highlight the supreme sacrifices given at Karbala. A number of organisations would arrange sabeel, juices, tea and food for participants of these processions. The Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, Bomb Disposal Squad and others have been put on high alert to provide emergency cover to mourners during these processions. Meanwhile, Lahore police have put in place a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order in the city. As per plan, 17,000 policemen including 35 DSPs and 84 SHOs would be deployed on Muharram 9 and 10 for three-layered security at imambargahs and processions. The personnel of Quick Response Force (QRF), Dolphin and Police Response Unit (PRU) would also be deployed for patrolling in sensitive areas, whereas special squads would be deputed along the routes of processions to protect the participants. The City Traffic Police has also made arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow during the processions and majalis, while diversions and alternate routes have also been announced to regulate traffic.
