The Mary Belle Sanatorium is a former sanatorium built after World War II, built to isolate tuberculosis patients. Built in 1932 and inaugurated in 1947 after the Second World War, it ended up officially closing in 2008. The Mary Bell sanatorium is counted among the largest sanatoriums in France. With its 350 meters long, its 4 floors and a basement. It became known after some horrific murders took place within the walls. In 1967 a young girl enters the asylum suffering from Tuberculosis and 6 months laters kills a 4 year old boy (Room 308) right next door to the girl. She later kills the next young boy who moved into that room. After denying the murders she dies from the disease. The sanatorium Mary Bell gets its name from a similar murder that occurred in New Castle England. A young girl age 11 by the name of Mary Bell strangles two children ages 4 and 3 in 1968.
