Troubleshooting and problem solving is the name of the game when it comes to getting your electrical system live for the first time on any vintage Honda motorcycle. By the looks of the dusty harness and pieces we fished out of the bin of parts we received with the CB200, this electrical system has probably spent more time off the motorcycle than on the motorcycle. Electrical components tend to be either working or non-working, unlike carburetor and engine work, if you have non-operable components usually no amount of elbow grease will bring them back. On the "barn find" CB200, Jessi works her way through usual items on the electrical list like the battery and regulator/ rectifier as well as coming across specific issues to her motorcycle like the handlebar switches and horn. Follow along as she troubleshoots the harness and takes a box full of dusty electrical components and makes a rock-solid daily rider electrical system out of it. Make sure you watch all the way to the end to see the project wrap-ups on the screen that show exactly how much time and money has been spent on both motorcycles and stay tuned for more of the "failed cafe racer" CB450 and the "barn find" CB200t rebuild! Disclaimer: The first half of this episode was filmed well before Covid-19 hit the shores of the US. Since then, we've changed up the format a bit for Fixin' 2 Ride. To keep the people in the shop to a minimum we will be filming each bike individually and featuring the CB450 "Failed" Cafe Racer and CB200 Barn Find bikes in their own episodes. But don't worry this only means twice as many awesome episodes as before. Products used in this video: Regulator/Rectifier Combo Unit: https://www.common-motor.com/honda-cb... One a failed "cafe racer" project, the other a rusting "barn find," both are destined to ride again! In our brand new "Fixing To Ride" video series, Common Motor's Jessi and Caleb picked up two Craigslist specials for about $500 each - a failed "cafe racer" project and an old "barn find." Our plan is to turn them both into fully reliable daily drivers for under $1500 bucks each. These two motorcycles are great examples of what you might come across when searching for your own Vintage Honda project bike. In this series, we'll walk you through everything we looked for in purchasing them, and the types of repairs and obstacles you might come across when you set out on your own quest to buy and fix up an old Honda to make it your reliable "daily driver". www.common-motor.com
