Her body was found on August 13, 2025, in a field in Singhani village, Bhiwani, with her throat slit and signs of possible burns or animal attacks. Initial police investigations suggested suicide, citing a suicide note found near her body and evidence of pesticide consumption, with no signs of rape or murder confirmed in early post-mortem reports. However, Manisha’s family rejected this, alleging murder and police negligence, claiming the police delayed registering a missing person report and mishandled the investigation. The family and villagers demanded a CBI probe and a fresh post-mortem, citing inconsistencies in the initial autopsy reports. On August 20, 2025, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the case would be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an impartial probe, following public outrage and demands from the family. Post-Mortem Developments: A third post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS, Delhi, on August 20, 2025, as per the family’s demand, due to doubts over earlier reports from Bhiwani Civil Hospital and PGIMS, Rohtak. The family agreed to perform her last rites on August 21, 2025, in Dhani Laxman village, after their demands for a CBI probe and AIIMS autopsy were met.
