洋楽・邦楽を問わず、ポップスの名曲の数々を、独自の視点とひとり多重コーラスでカバーしてきた Lil’ Goldwell（リル・ゴールドウェル）。これまで6枚のアルバムを発表してきましたが、昨年（2025年）からはコーラスアレンジだけでなく、オケの編曲を含む完全セルフ・プロデュースに挑戦。今年はさらに新しい楽曲や未開拓のジャンルに取り組んで参ります！ https://www.fujipacific.co.jp/lilgold... ●今作カバーについて 「トマト」「パセリ」など野菜の名前だけでなく、「思いやり」「青春」といったリル・ゴールドウェルがかつて歌ったことのないワードが散りばめられた、松本隆さんによる歌詞。あまりに眩しくて、どうアプローチしてよいやら戸惑うこともありました。しかしオリジナルバージョンを歌唱された太田裕美さんのラブリーな歌声に導かれ、なんとか形にすることができました。 この味の素のCMがオンエアされたのが70年代後半とのことですので、リル版のアレンジにはその当時のアメリカンポップスの要素を取り込んでみました。そしてサビ前半の８小節では、かのビーチボーイズの名曲中の名曲「God Only Knows」で披露されたアカペラコーラスの忠実な再現に挑戦！（主旋律の裏に副旋律が2種類も組み合わさっていて、クラシックの作曲技法で「対位法」というそうです - さすがはブライアン・ウィルソン♡）そんな音楽的に高度な遊びが可能になったのは井上鑑さんの洋楽マインド溢れるメロディーがあったからこそ。当時のCMソング制作者のレベルの高さに脱帽です。 作詞：松本隆 作曲：井上鑑 音楽：Lil’ Goldwell 映像：坂田 祐三、吉田 雅裕 「ONアソシエイツとは？」 1972年から2000年代前半まで、CM音楽プロデューサー大森昭男氏(1936年-2018年)氏が主催したCM音楽制作会社。CM音楽が70年代以降、大きな社会現象になる中で中心的な役割を果たした。その影響力は、当時の日本のミュージックシーンから、 広くカルチャー全般にまでに渡る。多くの才能あるアーティストたちのCM音楽作品の、膨大なカタログを擁する。 「“Akai Chapeau No Ajinomoto” ~God Only Knows Version~」 Lil’ Goldwell is known for covering timeless pop classics—from both Western and Japanese music—through a unique perspective and signature solo multi-layered chorus arrangements. Having released six albums to date, Lil’ Goldwell began a new chapter in 2025 by taking on full self-production, expanding beyond chorus arrangements to include complete orchestral and backing-track arrangements. Production comment: Lyrics by Takashi Matsumoto, filled not only with vegetable names like “tomato” and “parsley,” but also with words such as “compassion” and “youth”—terms Lil’ Goldwell had never sung before. The lyrics were so dazzling that I initially wasn’t sure how to approach them. However, guided by the lovely vocal performance of Hiromi Ota, who sang the original version, I was somehow able to bring it into shape. Since this Ajinomoto commercial aired in the late 1970s, I decided to incorporate elements of American pop music from that era into my arrangement. In the first eight bars of the chorus, I even attempted a faithful recreation of the a cappella chorus from one of the greatest songs of all time, “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. (Behind the main melody, there are two different counter-melodies intertwined—what in classical composition is known as counterpoint. Truly, Brian Wilson at his finest ♡.) Being able to indulge in such musically sophisticated play was possible only because of the melody, rich with a Western pop sensibility, written by Akira Inoue. I can only take my hat off to the remarkably high level of CM songwriters of that era.
