Because the homophony of "线" in Haifeng dialect is "珊", it is called Shanwei. The origin of its name has nothing to do with Shantou, which is named after the "Shashantou Fort", and is often mistaken by the outside world as belonging to the Chaoshan area. In the Neolithic Age 6,000 years ago, our ancestors fished, hunted, and planted here, living and multiplying. "Yu Gong" has the theory of nine states, and Shanwei belonged to the southern border of Yangzhou among the nine states; "Zhou Li·Xiaguan·Zhifang" called it a vassal land; it belonged to the land of Nanyue in the Spring and Autumn Period; it was called Baiyue when it entered Chu during the Warring States Period.
