Powered by a Combined Diesel and Gas (CODAG) propulsion system, Himgiri achieves speeds up to 28 knots with extended endurance, making it ideal for blue-water operations. Equipped with BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Himgiri delivers precision strike capability against land and sea targets. Its Barak 8 surface-to-air missiles, integrated with AESA radar, enable multi-target air defense. The ship also features advanced electronic warfare suites, torpedo tubes, RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers, and Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) for layered threat engagement. Designed for multi-domain warfare, Himgiri excels in anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine roles. Its aviation deck supports helicopter operations, enhancing surveillance and strike flexibility. With 75% indigenous content, it embodies India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and strengthens maritime deterrence in the Indo-Pacific.
