This clip is an excerpt from Stephanie Lenck, MD's IIH Practitioner Series webinar on IIH and Brain Glymphedema. The recent discoveries of the glymphatic system and of dural lymphatic vessels represent major breakthroughs in basic neurosciences, allowing new insights into complex neurological conditions. Learn from Stephanie Lenck, MD — the first physician researcher to have understood the role of the venolymphatic system in IIH. Learn about her research and findings in this fascinating lecture. Her lecture was moderated by Dr. Y. Pierre Gobin. Disclaimer: As of this webinar, no stent has been approved by the FDA for use in the venous sinuses of the brain. Therefore, venous sinus stenting is currently performed with stents used off-label. Neither IIH-Hub nor Serenity Medical, Inc. endorse the off-label usage of stents. The views expressed in this video are those of the speakers alone. Dr. Stéphanie Lenck is an Interventional Neuroradiologist at Groupe hospitalier Pitié Salpêtrière and a researcher at the Paris Brain Institute (INSERM) in Paris. Her research at the Paris Brain Institute focuses on idiopathic intracranial hypertension, cerebral venous and lymphatic physiology, and vascular malformations. Dr. Y. Pierre Gobin is an interventional neuroradiologist at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. He is a pioneer in new and effective treatments for cerebral aneurysms and has developed and established minimally invasive surgical approaches to treat acute strokes and eye tumors. Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is an underdiagnosed and undertreated disorder of elevated pressure within the brain without an identifiable cause. The IIH Practioner Series is designed for neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-interventionalists, endovascular surgeons, interventionist radiologists, neuroradiologists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, and ENT specialists.
