✨ If you want to build the strength and endurance to take on adventures like this yourself, book a call with me: https://form.typeform.com/to/a2grkwaf This story begins with a rain-soaked drive down Highway 89 toward Flagstaff, Arizona — a quiet, moody start to a day full of beauty, history and unexpected connection. In this video, I explore Walnut Canyon National Monument, a breathtaking site just outside Flagstaff, known for its well-preserved cliff dwellings built by the Sinagua people between 1100 and 1250 A.D. I take you along the Island Trail, descending into the canyon and walking in the footsteps of an ancient civilization. You’ll see stunning views, sacred spaces and remnants of a way of life that still echoes through the rocks. I reflect on the symbolism of the crows circling above, the cautious but determined return of spring and the feeling of being eye-level with history. We visit both pit houses and cliff dwellings, uncovering the stories and survival strategies of the people who lived here — from farming on the rim to hauling water from the canyon floor. As the day winds down, I set up camp near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and am reminded of the beauty of human connection when a neighbor surprises me with a bowl of freshly caught shrimp. It’s a simple act that nudges me out of my introverted bubble and reminds me how meaningful those small, shared moments can be. If you love desert hiking, National Parks & Monuments, or slow travel stories woven with introspection, this is for you.
