As we continue to rely on digital data, data integrity and security is a becoming a very common and real concern. With this in mind, the defense industry has a DFARS invocation for mandatory implementation of NIST SP 800-171, a “best practices” standard for information systems controls. The implementation deadline was 12/31/2017, although there seems to be some misunderstanding with these requirements. Through this session, NSF International’s team of data security experts will review a basic overview of the requirements, implementation ideas and the resources we can offer on this matter. If you are at any level of the aerospace supply chain where DFARS requirements are contractually imposed, this requirement is likely included and now past due for implementation.
