A quartet of superb custom-made Maxon MC4107D bucket brigade chips are the sonic core of this unit, providing luscious, swirling repeats with a distinctly warm character, creating a sonic bed that sits perfectly under your playing. In our minds, the best analogue delays are those which can sit under your playing, yet still completely envelope it, without ever being overpowering. And this, the Maxon does with great ease. Much of the noise, distortion and aliasing effects that are common to analogue delays have been addressed here, with incorporated noise-reduction technology, filtering out all but the repeated signal. With up to 450 ms of delay time, you have a pedal that can create anything from single-repeat slaps, through to a full-on ambient dreamscape. We're big fans.
