This is my shootout of the new Nano Deluxe Memory Man vs the Deluxe Memory Man XO that I have loved for years. I have gotta say I'm really impressed with it. In my opinion, there are some sonic differences. However, the Nano is still a true DMM. The repeats have that stereotypical clarity that sets it apart from other analog delays. Most of the difference is actually how it feels. The XO is a lot gooier and has a smoother response. The nano on the other hand is snappier and has a tighter response. I also felt that the Nano was pushing the amp a little harder, but that could variance in the input pots. I found it pretty easy to get the modulations to sound similar. They're not the same by any means but they're both just as capable. The biggest difference by far was the way the Nano oscillates. It's just not as good or as fun with those tiny knobs. However, it is significantly more practical as it runs at 9v instead of 24v and is almost a third the size. Another important note is that the maximum delay time of the Nano is far greater than the XO. At the end of the day, the XO has the edge sonically over Nano. But the Nano is the one that is going on my board for gigs and practice. I'll bust out the XO for recording.
