Hosted by Dr Blessed Okole, CSIR Research Group Leader: Agro-processing The cannabis and hemp industry has been identified as an emerging lucrative industry within South Africa, with potential to support socio-economic development. What should be done to correct industrialisation requirements that seem to be excluding the poor and marginalised? How can cannabis be industrialised without benefitting an elite few at the expense of modern day slaves? The market is flooded with imported and counterfeit products. How does Africa protect its market base in the continent, and compete internationally? This discussion will answer some of these questions and also outline the role of the CSIR in alleviating these challenges. Dr Blessed Okole, CSIR Research Group Leader: Agro-processing (Host), Prof David Katerere, Professor of Pharmaceutical Science, Tshwane University of Technology, Andy Radford, Managing Director, Mandela Bay Composites Cluster
