Using Cuisenaire Rods for Math - Part One

It's finally here. I've made a two part series overview on how Cuisenaire rods can be used for math. Most of this follows Gattegno's pedagogy for math, which the Miquon and Math-U-See curriculum are based on. However, Gattegno spends much more time allowing the children to play and discover how number work themselves in comparised to these two I'll link the math section of my Amazon store front where you can find the rods and his text book, but I find the Handbook of Activities that I linked in a previous post about fractions far more user friendly. The most challenging part of Gattegno's work for me is that he doesn't really tell you where you are going. I find it's like following a initial my pattern without knowing what I'm making fo yet. You'll still get there. It's just nice to see already a little. Even given that, his work allows for a true understanding of mathematical concept better than any other curriculum that I've come across. .
