By intervening, Sarkhan altered history, allowing Ugin to survive and restoring dragons to power. This new timeline (seen in Dragons of Tarkir) erased the khans from existence, replacing them with dragonlords who now ruled over the clans. The once-human-led factions became extensions of their respective dragon overlords, fundamentally changing Tarkir’s future. Thus, Tarkir’s fate split into two distinct realities: one where khans shaped destiny through mortal will, and another where dragons reigned supreme, rewriting history itself.
