Woodturning a Jarrah and Oak Bowl

I recently made a stack of vases out of the red timber. I believe this to be Jarrah and I come from a recycling yard. I think it used to be part of a house or a fence. Either way its hard and has a great colour. Thankfully my Makita saw was able to easily cut it. I’ve combined it with a Tasmanian Oak board I’ve had for a while. Took me a couple of days to cut it up and glue it together before getting it on the lathe. It has been finished with friction polish. My lathe speed varied between 400 rpm when I was roughing out the blank and 900rpm when I had it round and was shaping the bowl. I used my 12mm ( ½ inch) bowl gouge for most of the shaping and hollowing of the bowl. Sanded up to 800 grit. The bowl is 33cm in diameter and 7cm deep. Hope you like the bowl and the video. Enjoy.
