“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Pablo Picasso The story of Cypriot ceramicist, Valentinos Charalambous, who's 'Birth and Rebirth' mural ended up being left behind in the abandoned Nicosia International Airport after the events of 1974. Eventually, this unique piece of artwork found a new home. We managed to interview the artist over the phone and he shared his memories of that time. He is currently 94 years old (2023) and living in the coastal city of Limassol. Valentinos continues to work as a ceramicist.
