New York Governor Kathy Hochul's FY2026 Executive Budget proposal included an emphasis on the City of Albany, proposing $400 million to help revitalize downtown Albany. It's a proposal echoed in the Assembly and Senate's One-House Budgets. But, now in the final push in a now-late budget process, those One-House Budgets have another proposal involving Albany they want the Governor to implement. It's a bill proposed by Democratic State Senator Pat Fahy, who represents Albany, to require housing and retail as a part of the Wadsworth Labs Project on Albany's Uptown Harriman Campus. The bill would designate 7 acres of the $1.7 billion dollar project for mixed-use commercial, retail, or residential development.
