Pyoderma Gangrenosum is a non-infectious, progressive necrotizing skin condition. Half of all patients with the disease have a systemic inflammatory system. Insidious onset or develops after trauma or surgery. Progresses to full-thickness ulcerations with irregular borders and purulent and hemorrhagic exudates. WOund bed is eschar or slough-covered. Patients may have a fever, malaise, or myalgia. Pyoderma should be suspected given positive wound cultures and no response to antibiotics. INTERVENTIONS & PYODERMA GANGRENOSUM CARE Immunosuppressive agents and corticosteroids Gentle limited debridement Topical antimicrobials Gauze or moisture-retentive dressings Elevation and gradient compression Negative pressure therapy and hyperbaric oxygen Wound healing is extremely slow and recurrence is common
