This huge abandoned copper mine has natural timbers that are unbelievable plus a colorful mineral vein. As we rounded a corner while driving the Jeep down a canyon we were quite surprised to see a huge three compartment wood ore bin right next to the road. Behind it was a very large waste rock pile. While climbing up the waste pile we couldn't help but notice all the blue and green colored rock on the ground. Once on top of the waste rock pile we soon found an open portal and entered to explore the underground workings where we found some of the best timbering that we've ever seen. This mineral vein was first discovered in 1875 and consisted mainly of chrysocolla, a blue green crystal containing a high copper content. The years of production were 1906 to 1929, when 8.9 million pounds of copper were extracted from 110,000 tons of ore, with an average grade of 5.5%. We hope you enjoy the video!
