More than 50,000 people attended as a full orchestra and a 1,000-member choir—the largest ever assembled in Greece—performed some of his most iconic songs, conducted by Panagis Barbatis. At the end of the concert, Theodorakis, seated in a wheelchair, conducted the song “Denial” (Arnisi). A deeply emotional moment: when the piece ended, he covered his face with his hands and wept.
