Reports claim he stabbed a man at age 13 and allegedly murdered his mother around age 15-19 (strangling her and staging it as a suicide), reportedly due to her ties to a rival gang—though some accounts treat this as rumor. By his early 20s, after the 2001 arrest of gang leader Haji Lalu, Rehman took control, expanding operations in drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, arms dealing, and targeted killings. His gang clashed brutally with rival Arshad Pappu's group in decade-long Lyari gang wars, paralyzing the area with violence. Rehman allied with his cousin Uzair Baloch, who later succeeded him. Seeking legitimacy, he formed the Peoples' Aman Committee in 2008, portraying it as a peace initiative while maintaining political ties (notably with PPP figures) and providing local "protection" in the underdeveloped area. Rehman's reign ended on August 9, 2009, at age 34, in a police shootout (described as an encounter) led by officer Chaudhry Aslam. Some politicians, like Zulfiqar Mirza, later claimed involvement. His story gained renewed attention in 2025 through the Bollywood film Dhurandhar, where Akshaye Khanna portrays a fictionalized version of him.
