Day 2 of our Mumbai to Hampi motorcycle road trip takes us through the historic city of Vijayapura, famous for its stunning Indo-Islamic architecture built during the Adil Shahi dynasty. After warm hospitality and a relaxed breakfast, we began exploring some of the city’s most iconic monuments: 🏛️ Ibrahim Rauza – Often called the “Black Taj Mahal”, this architectural masterpiece is known for its symmetry and detailed carvings. 🏛️ Gol Gumbaz – A 17th-century mausoleum famous for having one of the largest unsupported domes in the world and its incredible whispering gallery where even the softest sound echoes multiple times. After diving deep into history, we continued our ride toward Kudalasangama Sangameshwara Temple, located at the sacred confluence of the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers. This peaceful spiritual site is also associated with the 12th-century philosopher and social reformer Basavanna, making it an important pilgrimage destination. Some of us explored the temple, others went boating, and a few simply sat back and enjoyed the calmness of nature — a rare break from everyday life. By evening, we geared up for the final stretch and rode toward Hampi, reaching late at night after a long but fulfilling day filled with history, spirituality, and epic highways. In this episode: ✔ Vijayapura monument exploration ✔ History of Gol Gumbaz & Ibrahim Rauza ✔ Ride to Kudalasangama Temple ✔ Scenic Karnataka highways ✔ Journey onward to Hampi Next episodes will cover the breathtaking ruins, temples, and landscapes of Hampi — the legendary city also featured on India’s ₹50 note.
