In this video we show you the right green stage that you can harvest all your tomatoes at the end of the growing season for Heirloom Tomatoes. We show you how to store your tomatoes and what we use to get them ripening inside your home. I may have forgotten to tell ones watching this video that you must keep your tomatoes in one single layer only and on their stem side, in a "ventilated" (with holes) in cardboard boxes that can stack. You will also need to put them in a cool and dark area with good ventilation to ripen. Keep in mind that Heirloom Tomatoes need a longer harvest than your "Garden Center" manipulated tomato plants, as they are of original seed of Heirloom lineage. In our area on the Southern Tip of Vancouver Island, being the warmest place in Canada (Pacific Northwest, US)... we need anywhere from 7-8 months from seed to harvest time for these Heirloom Tomatoes. I germinate the seeds in the last week of February and harvest them in mid September as it becomes too cool to leave on the vines. The smaller ones not ready to harvest and needing more time, still won't make even if left on the vine for a few more weeks as the colder weather stunts their growth. The harvesting of tomatoes at the right green stage at harvest time "does not" in anyway change their fantastic flavor. 2020 09 18 121008
