"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 (NIV) What a rush it is to get to have this record. This glitch has always been especially fascinating to me, especially since the outside drift strat was discovered, so to be the second person to hit it 3/3 is nothing short of a dream come true. I started playing this glitch in August of 2024, and man, did I freaking HATE it. It felt like nothing ever worked. I didn't know what to do. It was an extraordinarily unfun category to me, but I wanted to make a Glitch Gauntlet video about it, so I kept playing anyways. I managed to hit it a couple of times and was able to get the video wrapped up. After the Glitch Gauntlet video was done, I pretty much quit playing Rainbow Road glitch. I shifted focus over to Waluigi Stadium and figured RR was in the rear view mirror for me at that point. Still, every now and then, I'd hop on for a little while to throw some attempts at 2/3, just for fun. My consistency was horrible, but getting 2/3 guaranteed Worldwide Tops, so it was worth shooting my shot to see if I could randomly get super lucky and pull through. Shortly after getting my 1:42 on Waluigi Stadium, I decided to play some RR just to kill the time. For whatever reason, my consistency was way better than it ever had been before. I don't remember the timeline of it exactly, but within a couple of days, I managed to score my first ever 2/3 glitch time on my 26th second glitch attempt. The thing about that time... it was slow. Like, REALLY slow. A 1:52, barely even beating the 1/3 times on the Worldwide Top 10. There were other 2/3s beating it by almost 30 seconds. It was simultaneously really cool to get onto a new Worldwide Top 10 and also really funny to do so with such a bad time. I decided to keep going to try and get a run with 2 glitches in a row, since my run at the time had a failed glitch attempt on lap 2. This was when I switched to Waluigi, since I figured if I was even THINKING about going for World Record, I wanted to use him for it. After another week and a half, I got my second 2/3 glitch time, this time with 2 glitches back-to-back, without a failed attempt. After getting this new time, I took a few days off from playing MKWii. I got to go to Disneyland for a few days with my family. Rainbow Road was still fresh on my mind, and when my brother and I rode Space Mountain, I couldn't stop thinking "Man, this would make a sick bgm for a Rainbow Road 3/3." I like to think that's part of what inspired me to push for it. When I got home, I was back on the grind. Consistency was really hit and miss the whole time. Some days, I'd be hitting multiple glitches an hour. Other days, I'd struggle to hit one or two in an entire multi-hour session. I've grown to have a love-hate relationship with this glitch, as the consistency does improve with time, but it's still really dodgy in my experience. I played several hours a day (with few exceptions) for well over a month. On March 20th, I had my best glitch day yet, where I made a total of 41 landbacks, 3 2/3s, and 1 3/3 attempt. I thought this was gonna be my best session for a long time, but I was happily mistaken. On March 23, 2025 (exactly 2 months after my first 2/3), on my 9th chance at 3/3, on my 15th 2/3 and after 479 glitch landings total, I hit the 3/3, shaving 44 seconds off my PB and getting Waluigi his first WR since the game's release. As I already mentioned, this is a dream come true and a massive honor for me. I know Owen's glitch consistency puts mine to shame, so I figure it's only a matter of time before Rainbow Road is ruled by Donkey Kong once again. Still, I'm extremely happy to have my name in Rainbow Road's history books, and I know Waluigi is happy too. To the people who encouraged me here, gave me advice, or simply wished me good luck, thank you all. Lastly, but most importantly, I thank God for letting me have this run.
