Harajuku has always been the centre of kawaii and alternative fashion in Tokyo. However, over the years it's become increasingly touristy. Since I first went to Japan in 2010, I've noticed fewer clothing stores and more novelty snacks. These days there are more shops with cute character goods, and lots of gachapon stores. In the video we take a look around Harajuku so you can see what it's like in 2024 and decide whether it's worth visiting. We'll start on Takeshita Street, look round Alta department store, see some original Harajuku stores, visit Togo Shrine and wander the backstreets in Ura-Harajuku.
