Saint Bridget of Sweden (c. 1303–1373) was a 14th-century mystic, noblewoman, mother of eight, and founder of the Bridgettine Order. Known for her intense visions of Christ's passion, she became a influential spiritual advisor to popes and kings, later becoming one of the patron saints of Europe. Life and Family: Born to a wealthy Swedish family, she married at 14 and had eight children, one of whom is Saint Catherine of Sweden. After her husband's death, she dedicated herself to a life of prayer and charity. The Bridgettines: She founded the Order of the Most Holy Savior (Bridgettines), a religious order for men and women, with a monastery established in Vadstena, Sweden. Mystical Visions: Bridget experienced visions from a young age, many of which focused on the Passion of Christ. These were recorded in her "Celestial Revelations". Influence: She was known for advising Church leaders, including urging the Pope to return to Rome from Avignon. Legacy: She is considered a patron saint of Sweden and Europe. Her feast day is July 23. She spent the last years of her life in Rome and died in 1373, with her remains later moved to the monastery in Vadstena.
