ASDAN is delighted to announce the second episode of its new Cross-sector Lab podcast. Hosted by Chief Executive Melissa Farnham, the series brings together leaders from education, business, policy and the community to explore ideas, challenge existing systems and develop practical strategies that create meaningful opportunities for all learners. Guided by ASDAN’s mission to engage, elevate and empower learners, the Cross-sector Lab podcast is a space for curiosity, dialogue and creative thinking – where asking 'What if?' becomes the starting point for positive change. Each episode opens up fresh perspectives on how education can be reimagined through cross-sector collaboration to ensure every learner is supported to thrive. In this episode, Melissa is joined by Dr Carl Ward, a national education leader, Chair of the Foundation for Education Development, and a driving force behind long-term thinking in policy, leadership and social mobility. Dr Ward has held senior roles in school and trust leadership, and now works across government, business and education to help shape a system that is more coherent, more inclusive and more future-focused. Through his work with the FED, he has been a strong advocate for creating a 10-year vision for education – one that places equity and opportunity at its core. Together, Melissa and Dr Ward discuss how systemic change in education requires bold leadership, long-term thinking and collaboration across sectors, and explore how these principles can help create a fairer and more connected education system.
