Demographic and Individual Difference Variables

In this video, I focus on the empirical studies section of A Review of Foreign Language Enjoyment and Engagement, with particular attention to two important subsections: demographic variables and individual difference variables. I discuss how factors such as age, gender, and educational background have been examined in relation to foreign language enjoyment and engagement, and I also look at the role of individual differences, including learner characteristics that may shape emotional and behavioral experiences in language learning. By reviewing these two strands of research together, this video aims to show how both social background and personal variation contribute to our understanding of learner enjoyment and engagement in second language acquisition.
