Suzanne Hetzel Campbell PhD, RN, FCNEI, IBCLC, CCSNE, Associate Professor, UBC School of Nursing presentation to MILC Club on January 21, 2022. Title: Innovative Interprofessional Approach to Lactation Education and Care During the Pandemic Overview: This presentation will provide an introduction to five open education resource modules that provide foundational evidenced-based practices for IP lactation support. These modules include a range of practice settings: a prenatal clinic, hospital setting, home visit, and midwifery clinic. Through navigating common breastfeeding challenges in the modules, participants build a foundational knowledge to inform their breastfeeding support skills and attitudes. Participants have the opportunity to learn about prenatal anticipatory guidance, initiation of breastfeeding after birth, support with effective feeding, and managing low milk supply. Trauma-violence informed practice and the Baby Friendly Initiative are threaded throughout all modules. Additionally, an equity lens is used for both practitioners and families so that the modules fit interprofessional best practice models.
