Recorded on November 27, 2024, 11/27/2024, or 27.11.2024 This is a full/complete ride of Broward County Transit (BCT) Bus Route 40 Westbound (2022 Gillig BRT 40'; 2205) from The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale to Lauderhill Transit Center via Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard or A1A, SE 17th Street, and Sistrunk Boulevard. Route 40 mostly travels through the beach (Fort Lauderdale Beach) and Downtown Fort Lauderdale. In addition, this route passes through Broward Central Terminal, Port Everglades, Swap Shop, Broward Health Medical Center, Riverwalk, African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, and International Swimming Hall of Fame. OPINIONS AND OBSERVATIONS: I was able to ride this 2022 Gillig BRT 40' again for the third time (I usually catch 2020 Gillig BRT 40', more often). For the first half of the ride from The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale to Broward Central Terminal, the ride went smooth and less crowded. However, when I arrived at Broward Central Terminal, I did not expect so much people to board this bus and it started to get dramatic and unsafe. You do not usually see this on route 40 (Route 40 is usually normal size crowd), but it happened on this ride due to massive delays and the bus arrived 25 minutes late to the terminal. During the ride at Lauderhill, some people were not able to ride the bus because the bus was massively crowded and there were no more room on the bus, and some passengers had to leave the bus because the bus operators cannot leave people in wheelchair and walkers behind, and the disabled people need to have room to sit. However, this can be necessary for rush hour, as you can experience delays and overpacked buses. After getting off the bus, the bus operator was not able to take his break, due to huge delays and other buses (Route 40) are going to arrive that will need to use the bay. Hats off the the bus operator, who did his best to get the passengers to their destinations safely and as fast as possible.
