7-Day Canoe Trip on the South Saskatchewan River

Four of us spent 7 days paddling 170KM down the South Saskatchewan River. We put-in just upstream of Medicine Hat and took-out in the badlands near Sandy Point, close to the Saskatchewan border. Conditions were intense. Temperatures pushed into the high 30s and winds blew over 80KMs. At one point, multiple tornadoes were confirmed nearby. The river threw everything at us. The landscape shifted constantly from open prairie to deep coulees and canyon walls. We were off the grid the entire time, with no cell service and no contact. Each night we camped on wild, empty stretches of shoreline and saw the river in a way we never had before.
