Mission Ambulance Involved In Crash

A busy day for emergency workers across the mountains as they dealt with a lot of traffic accidents.Highway Patrol is investigating a wreck that happened at the intersection of Highway 70 and Jim's Branch Road in Swannanoa.  Troopers say it involved 3 vehicles, including an ambulance from Mission Hospital. Investigators tell News 13 a vehicle making a right turn on to U.S. 70 from Jim's Branch road was struck by a van.  After they collided, a Mission Hospital ambulance hit the vehicle. Officials say no one was being transported in the ambulance at the time of the accident. One person was injured in the wreck and taken to Mission Hospital. There's no word on their condition tonight. Three people were injured in a head-on collision in Asheville also Wednesday afternoon. It happened on Amboy Road near the entrance to Carrier Park. Police say a SUV swerved to avoid running into the back of an oil truck. They say it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and slammed into another vehicle. Three people inside the SUV were injured. Officers say one received life threatening injuries. There were also crashes in Henderson and Rutherford counties earlier in the day.
