GUILDERLAND - If you see a low-flying helicopter in your neighborhood, it may very well be New York State Police looking for marijuana plants. Fall, or harvest season is when the cannabis is most recognizable from the sky. "No matter how much growers try to disguise the crop, the one thing that they can't disguise is that brilliant emerald green which tends to stand out against the normal vegetation," says Tech Sergeant Kathy Humphries of the NYSP. The pilots schedule regular flights during harvest season once or twice a week but are always on the lookout for that special shade of green when responding to calls. CBS6 Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke flew with NYSP on a marijuana eradication mission as they worked with Guilderland Police to make a sizable bust.
