Last week, I saw the movie, Song Sung Blue, about the popular Neil Diamond cover band and I loved it. It actually inspired me to record this famous hit by Neil Diamond. "Sweet Caroline" (also known as "Sweet Caroline (Good Times Never Seemed So Good)") is a song written and performed by American singer Neil Diamond and released as a single on May 28, 1969. This song is probably one of the most recognized songs around because it is sung at many group gatherings from ballparks to local bars, etc. It's just an easy, happy and simple song, which is very fun to sing together. Neil Diamond has provided different explanations for the song's origins. In a 2007 interview, he stated the inspiration for the song was John F. Kennedy's daughter Caroline Kennedy, who was 11 years old at the time it was released. Diamond sang the song for her at her 50th birthday celebration in 2007. On December 21, 2011, in an interview on CBS's The Early Show, Diamond said that a magazine cover photo of Caroline Kennedy as a young child on a horse with her parents John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy created an image in his mind, and the rest of the song came together about five years after seeing the picture. However, in 2014, Diamond said the song was about his then-wife Marcia Murphey, but he needed a three-syllable name to fit the melody. --Wiki (Lyrics) Where it began I can't begin to know when But then I know it's growin' strong Was in the spring And spring became the summer Who'd have believe you'd come along? Hands Touchin' hands Reachin' out Touching me, touchin' you Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good I've been inclined To believe they never would But now I look at the night And it don't seem so lonely We fill it up with only two And when I hurt Hurtin' runs off my shoulders How can I hurt when holdin' you? Warm Touchin' warm Reachin' out Touchin' me, touchin' you Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good I've been inclined To believe they never would, oh, no, no Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good Sweet Caroline I believe they never could Sweet Caroline Producer/Editor - Ron Bird Sound - Native Instruments "Grandeur" Audio - Ableton Live 11 Piano - Yamaha CSP - 170 #sweetcaroline #neildiamond #pianocover
