पुणे–बंगळूर महामार्गावरील पुणे–सातारा पट्ट्यात खंबाटकी घाटात उभारण्यात आलेल्या नव्या ट्विन टनलमुळे मोठा बदल घडणार आहे. गेल्या अनेक वर्षांपासून सुरू असलेल्या कामांमुळे प्रवाशांना होणारा त्रास आता कमी होणार असून, प्रवास अधिक वेगवान, सुरक्षित आणि आरामदायी होणार आहे. या ट्विन टनलपैकी एक बोगदा प्रायोगिक तत्त्वावर हलक्या वाहनांसाठी खुला करण्यात आला असून, त्यामुळे प्रवासाचा वेळ लक्षणीयरीत्या कमी झाला आहे. हा प्रकल्प अपघातप्रवण तीव्र वळणांना पर्याय देण्यासाठी तसेच विशेषतः वीकएंड आणि सुट्ट्यांच्या दिवशी होणारी वाहतूक कोंडी कमी करण्यासाठी राबवण्यात आला आहे. बोगदा पूर्ण क्षमतेने सुरू झाल्यानंतर दैनंदिन प्रवासी, पर्यटक तसेच स्थानिक व्यावसायिकांना याचा मोठा फायदा होणार आहे. The Pune–Satara stretch of the Pune–Bengaluru Highway is set for a major transformation with the opening of a new twin tunnel at Khambataki Ghat. After years of construction-related inconvenience, commuters will finally experience faster, safer, and smoother travel. One of the twin tunnels has been opened on a trial basis for light vehicles, significantly reducing travel time. The project aims to eliminate accident-prone sharp curves and ease traffic congestion, especially during weekends and holidays.
